Colchester Triumph 1958 Restoration. (well the price was in Danish Kroner but i exchanged it to USD) i went to see it, and it turned up to be a Colchester / Clausing Triumph 7 1/2 x 48 (15 x 48 in the states) a bit rusty on the bedways, but nothing a bit of TLC wouldn't cure. That is a fantastic lathe, thank you for sharing from.

Colchester Triumph 7.5' (Circular Mind) Lathe
Hi there,
I have a Colchester Triumph 7.5' Mk1 (Circular Head) which is certainly used every day time in our machine store. It'beds an outdated girl, but it is usually precious to our business and will be still utilized just mainly because very much as the various other lathes.
Today nevertheless it's given up. We can nevertheless select all things on top (two levers) but the primary high / reduced gear handle on the front will be the problem. In low package all will be fine. In high container when running the spindle slowly goes in its appropriate path. But it doesn't pick rate up and I can cease it by hands.
I've removed the head off the gearbox and observed that the higher speed driving gear (pushes spindle tube through selector) can be spinning openly on the shaft. See connected images and video clip.

I can't find any technology sketches for this lathe. There is usually no grub screw, roll pin or bolt to keep the equipment onto the shaft so I can just presume its fixed to the shaft through splines. And consequently the splines have worn off? Nevertheless, it went from operating fine to not in the space of 5 a few minutes with no grinding or regular gearbox failing noises.
Does anyone have got any encounter with these lathes, and would be kind enough to suggest?
Thanks a lot - Metal

I think its heading to become a key,woodruff,p/n 005.incidentally,different from a Pupil.anyhow you have got to get rid of the shaft ,so any maintenance will become obvious. The gears are not really very hard ,and adjustment would end up being easy ,if needed.
